kooaba is an innovative and dynamic spin-off company from ETH Zurich. We are building a platform for image recognition. Around this core recognition technology, we are currently developing Web- and mobile applications. For instance, we have recently launched the iPhone app Paperboy, a tool, which allows users to interact with print media by taking pictures of any page.

At the backend, this and other web-based end-user tools are developed in Ruby on Rails. To extend the capabilities of these, we are currently looking for a Software Engineer with extensive experience in Web development and in particular in working with Ruby on Rails.

Your background

• BS or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
• extensive experience with Ruby and RoR development
• CSS, XHTML and Ajax at expert level
• interest for and ideally experience in Web UI design
• strong object-oriented programming and design skills
• proficiency in UNIX/Linux tools and utilities
• experience with test-driven development

Preferred additional qualifications and experience

• Graphic Design for Web applications (Photoshop etc.)
• iPhone or Android development
• Good writing skills
• Agile practices (Scrum, pair-programming, … )
